Our Clergy

Father Russell Worrell

The Reverend Russell Worrell is Rector of Coventry Anglican Church. Fr. Russell is an experienced pastor who has journeyed to the historical church after several years of service as a youth, associate, and senior pastor in a non-denominational church group. Fr. Russell is gifted in outreach and apologetics. He and his wife, April, make their home in Alabaster, Alabama, where they raise their three young boys.

Father Jim Blackwell

The Reverend Jim Blackwell is a priest in residence at Coventry; serving as a hospital and prison chaplain. Fr. Jim has served the church in various capacities over the years with emphasis in the areas of Outreach and Spiritual Life... Fr. Jim served many years as a vocational Deacon. A graduate of Beeson Divinity School, he continues to devote much of his private time to continuing education and academic endeavors.

Deacon Maurice McKissack

The Reverend (Dcn) Maurice McKissack was ordained to the permanent diaconate in 2005. A Charter member of Coventry Anglican Church, he has been involved with church planting, men's ministry, and in Recovery and Reconciliation ministry. Dcn Maurice served in several lay leadership positions for over 35 years before answering God's call to ordained ministry. He and his wife, Jeanette, make their home in Bessemer, Alabama where they raise three of their grandsons.

About our Bishop

The Right Reverend Derek Jones was the founding priest of Coventry Anglican Church... Coventry remains the Cathedral seat. Bishop Jones brings the heart, education and experience needed to help churches and ministers understand worship in a true ancient-future model. A gifted musician, he has also led music ministry and performed in countless churches in both the US and abroad. Bishop Jones is the endorsing official for chaplains serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, the Veteran's Administration, and for endorsed vocational chaplains for the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (CEEC), the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA or CANA-Chaplains) and the Anglican Mission in America (AMiA) as a cooperative agreement with the CEEC. He and his wife, Connie, live in Montevallo, AL.
